My dogs have had little bouts of stage fright and I picked them up and comforted them and then put them back down. I can also lean over to them and talk to them. I've combed their ears in the ring to settle them down. I'm not faulting those who choose to kneel to comfort their dogs, but there are other ways to accomplish settling your dog in without getting on the floor. Myra Savant
