I have only had trouble with my males at adolescence.  By the time they are
2 the marking ceases.  I do use a belly band when needed and it seems to
help train them.  I find Cavaliers quite easy to train away from marking
indoors--not that they don't ever mark once trained, but it becomes a rare
occasion.
