Fran- i make belly bands so i think i can describe its use- It is cloth to
wrap around the loin of male dogs to prevent their marking from soiling
the furniture. As well asand aide to retraining where the male is allowed
to mark. They can be made from a variety of materials but easy on and off
is what we try to obtain here. We use a water proof backing on ours to keep
any wet from going through to the outside just in case the dog wets in it
and heads for the good sofa before you can get to the dog and we provide a
removable washable pad to keep the cost of buying refill products to nil.

I find that making them for each dog to work to the owners benefit as a
custom belly band can allow for a dog that is bigger in that area than
another.

You put the band on and it attaches to itself with heavy duty velcro so it
cannot be pulled off by said dog-or dogs partner in crime and your male does
wear it in the house. Removing it prior to sending the dog outside. That
portion of the training is supposed to help diffentitate between where it is
appropriate to mark.

You also use it when out socially with a male and when moving dogs through
hotels and lobbies at dog shows. When visiting with your male it is
customary to have a bellyband on the dog as they tend to mark into new
territories. I board cavaliers and often the people will come in and the
first thing the male does mark. With a belly band on this is not as
embarrasing a scenario as without.
