I have a barking Cavalier. The only one out of 5 dogs that feels the need to hear his own voice. He's 8 years old, and has always been a barker. I've had wonderful success with a no-bark collar that emits a tone when he barks. I couldn't bring myself to use a shock collar, and I didn't care for the idea of a citronella one either. He hates the collar so much that we only had to use it 3 or 4 times. Now, when he gets too vocal, we just lay the collar on a table where he can see it and he immediately quiets. The collar was quite inexpensive and I would recommend it to anyone.
