Hi Pat
In an ideal world it would be lovely to have the most beautiful head and
sound construction and perfect movement - unfortunately I don't think that
the perfect dog has yet been bred VBG
Therefore, I will go for a lovely head with sufficient neck, a level topline
and correct tail set that will give a balanced out line and parallel
movement that might not have the drive that I would really like to see but
is OK - no front so wide that you could drive a bus through and no back end
where the hocks are nearly touching or being thrown out at odd angles.
I think there are breeders that are not critical enough about their
tock, - my ex husband always said he was amazed I ever sold a puppy because
the faults were pointed out before the virtues. My reply to him was that at
least they knew about them before they bought!!
There are also those that would not know construction if it got up and hit
them in the face.
Likewise there are those exhibitors new to the breed both here and in the US
who are straight in at Championship show level before they even know the
breed standard never mind type!! VBG I do appreciate that the show system is
different in the US to over here - you don't have the Open shows as we do
but.....
Anyway that is my two cents worth!!

Annette
