The more expensive ones are faster. It has to do with the amount of time it
takes for the camera to record the image. I went from about a 7 second turn
around with a Mavica to a 2 second or less with the Cybershot. Cameras with
memory sticks are faster than ones that record on floppies. Also, the
resolution (number of pixels) will make a difference in the speed of the
camera. The lower I make the resolution, the faster the camera does it's
stuff. I usually use the 640 x 480 resolution for dog jpeg photos and save
the finer resolution (up to 2560x1920) for other things. Actually, I
wouldn't buy a high resolution camera if all I wanted was dog photos to put
on the web. The lower resolution photos load faster and look great. The
higher resolution photos really need to be sliced for web photos (cut into a
grid of small squares that load independently) and I haven't learned how to
do that yet although I have the software for it (Macromedia Fireworks).
