Susan, Saw your ? re using cavs as birders. I have'nt experienced it but when I first got Dodger and was walking him, a woman stopped to talk (was driving by) and she and her husband have two cavs. I asked if they showed them and she said no but that her husband used them for hunting (birds) and that there is a long tradition of their use in doing this. Dodger's only skill in this regard, so far, is watching them fly overhead! Somewhere I also heard or read that the plume tail is functional in spotting where the dogs are in the high grass as they flush. Makes sense.
