<< Too bad Cavaliers aren't in the sporting dog group, and classified as spaniels. Then they could be trained for and entered in spaniel hunting tests. Currently, even if a Cavalier could pass the tests, I don't believe they would be allowed to enter the hunting tests. >>
Susan, That is correct. I contacted the AKC a year ago or so and asked about the spaniel tests (I have done hunting tests with my Brittany). They said it would be up to the parent club to request inclusion for the Cavaliers, as the Rottweilers and Samoyeds have done with herding tests. I am not a member of the AKC Club (have been trying to get an application for a couple years and can't even get that!!) so didn't go any further with it.
