My gut feeling is that this had something to do with the heart--I think it
unlikely it was a stroke although anything is possible.  It is possible it
could have been ruptured chordae tendinae.  I specifically know of a
documented dog that had absolutely NO murmur by both auscultation and color
doppler who ruptured all the chordae tendinae on one side literally
*overnight* (and survived) so no evidence of MVD need be there for this to
happen.  Usually, but not always though, the dog lives longer than 15
minutes, but I suppose if both sides of the mitral valve blew out at once,
15 minutes might be right.  It could also have been an electrical
problem/arrhythmia such as what happens sometimes to students and athletes
that suddenly collapse and die.  I know of several Cavaliers who have had
problems with arrhythmias and have had pacemakers inserted.
