Christine, Those studies have been out for a while. Enalapril is the generic version of Vasotec. This is also the same as the veterinary drug Enacard. Dinah was on this drug, and it helped her tremendously. She was having symptoms before she started the drug.
I have found that cardiologists do not start the drug until there are symptoms, but that many regular vets seem to go ahead and start the drug early. I'm not sure why that is, but I have taken several rescues to the cardiologist, who said not to start enalapril. Their regular vets often ended up starting them anyway.
