I readlately that someone posted about their meter and that they send in their reading to the gas company.
I thought this was a pretty great idea since i have been in a dispute with my own California Gas provider for two years over entering my kennel where the meter is located. They want to tromp through my kennel each month to read my meter. I want them to move the meter out of the kennel to the front of the house and we are at a standstill. They are coming out Wednesday to give me a bill to force me to pay for moving it to a more convenient location for the meter readers. I have been paying estimated high bills for two years rather than have them come in to the yard. For four years they read the meter over the fence next door and suddenly stopped and insisted they have a key and come and go as they want. They keep telling me is will cost fortune to move the meter at my expense. Although not one supervisor has given me a cost or come out after all the phone calls back and forth asking them to come and see and estimate the moving of gas meter. The supervisor was quoting gas company law to me about access and yada yada yada and i told him that there is only one law here at my house and that is to protect my dogs at all costs no matter what. We went around about how I feel meter readers contaminate areas by walking from one neighborhood to another in and out of every yard tracking small particles on their shoes. The supervisor was totally ignorant of what I was talking about and is not sensitive to any subject other than his right of way onto my property to gain access to his gas meter. Anyone out there have any ideas how to avoid any further battle with the gas company? They will not accept any readings done by the homeowner as I did approach them with this as a solution. Still thinking private property means something? Maybe not?
