The following statement from two highly respected Cavalier owners and
exhibitors, which is published in the new ROYAL SPANIEL, first quarter, 2002,
should not be taken lightly.
This is NOT for the good of the breed, but would hurt even more the already
small gene pool.
Why was this new amendment made?
What is the reasoning behind it?

OPEN LETTER TO: CKCSC. USA
RE: MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL

Annual membership renewal time is upon us; after much soul searching, we have
made the decision to not renew our CKCSC,USA and COTW memberships.

We can no longer support a registry that has as the amended Code of Ethics:
"II.A.3 'If I decide to breed a litter, I will breed only Cavaliers
registered with or eligible for registration with the CKCSC, USA.' "

To restrict ethical breeding practices that promote happy, healthy Cavaliers
for the sake of a registry is to us, unethical. To continue to stand by such
policy with our membership dollar is hypocritical.

Sincerely,

Tamara Kelly
