Gerri and others,
"Time To Give It a Break" When I checked my e-mails today I was amazed to
have nearly 100, most from this list and the vast majority re AKC and CKCSC
USA rarely can passions have been so high about such a subject. I have to
admit to deleting the majority as it is becoming similar to the 100 Years
war.
The last thing you probably want is meddling outsiders giving their
opinions, but then I reckoned I had a little bit of knowledge (dangerous I
know!) as I had experienced some of the issues first hand.
Back in 1994 I judged at King of Prussia a very pleasant weekend but still
there was an undercurrent as the *S* had just hit the proverbial fan and
there seemed to be a lot of whisperings in corners. Judy you were there,
Jo-Ann and numerous others I am sure Judy,I think we had a long chat about
dogs on the Sunday at the ringside ( incidentally I have one of your famous
paintings on slate of my Ruby Ch, given to me by the Midland Club when I
judged a few years ago which is superb)
I think Martha Guimond, Messrs Gammon and Schroll and a few others had just
been expelled, just some of the names that I remember. The point I am trying
to make is that, here we are some 8 years down the tracks and there is no
sign of a resolution.
Norma 's suggestion seemed ideal a great start towards conflict mediation
and healing the wounds that obviously run so deep ( think you ought to have
her over to do it!)
Surely, with the monumental issues in the World that have to be grasped like
the conflict in the Middle East to name but one, there are a couple of
strong- willed individuals on each side of the argument who would be
prepared to stand up and say enough is enough and lance this boil once and
for all. I 'm sure your contempories and history would thank you for it in
the long-run. Even way back in 1984 some of us over for the Silver Jubilee
were amazed to hear Lady Forwood booed at an after dinner speech when she
tried to be objective and look to the future, Judy, Jo-Ann back me here ?
I have only met a few people on this list in person, but I know that others
such as Myra, Laura, Dave and Michael, feel very passionately about the AKC
Old Club conflict judging by their numerous posts as do Gerri, Kathy Conrad,
Dianne, Ann and Sharon on the other side( hope I have got that right)
Maybe some of the newer members should grasp the nettle if it's too painful
for those that experienced the unpleasantness at first hand, sins of the
fathers and all that, you will surely be doing the breed a great service.
Just an outsiders point of view and no offence to anyone as I know it is a
very emotional topic.
Delete fatigue sufferer who will probably now unsubscribe
