Hi Cheryl- I checked with my husband who is "nature guy" around here, and he said that it was probably a toad. I did not know this but he said they are two different species - like dogs & cats. Frogs live in water, toads live on land - who knew? Toads have a poison that they emit to deter predators and undoubtedly, that's what happened. He said some are poisonous, but didn't know what effect it would have on a dog - good thing you made that call to the Vet. What did he/she say? Just curious.
