This sounds like it was a toad, rather than a frog. Toads
exude a poison from glands behind the eyes, to deter
predators.

We get a lot of them in the yard, and one or two of our
dogs particularly like to catch them. Luckily, we
usually get there first!

The symptoms of toad poisoning start with frothing at the
mouth, and, in severe cases, go on to include reddening
of the gums, drooling, vomiting, and head-shaking. In the
most serious cases convulsions can occur.

The normal suggested treatment is immediate flushing of
the mouth and gums, taking care that the water is not
ingested.

You have already left a message for your vet, if symptoms
continue, I would advise a discussion with the Emergency
Hospital.

The prognosis is usually good - there are relatively few
deaths, other than among terriers in Florida that catch the
huge Marine Toad!
