When we decided to make him our mascot, he went straight from the kennels to the vet, and among several other things, he was also heartworm positive. The vet started him on regular chewable Heartguard and told us to bring him back in 6 months. At his 6 month checkup, he tested negative. There was no extra dosing involved and Flabby Labby had no problem at all.
