Hi, I live here in Ft. Myers, FL, and about 2 years ago I ran into a cavalier who was 12 weeks old here in a Petland store. That is the first time I heard about Hunte Corp. They have a very slick and impressive operation. I know first hand, that all the puppies that are in Petland come from Hunte. This particular cavalier was first represented as an AKC dog, but after I insisted on seeing the paper work, they discovered he was not AKC.
This particular cavalier came from an MO breeder, who I later found out had been expelled from the CKCSC and had violations with AKC. It is just a slick way to camouflage Puppy Miller puppies, especially if they are small breeders that have been expelled with AKC or other clubs. I found out later, that this breeder, bred several other small toy dogs also. It was a very heart wrenching experience. I tried everything in my power to have the manager donate that Cavalier to rescue, but I was not successful. I did follow up and found that the dog was eventually sold for about $700.00 by Petland to a family. The manager showed me the bill of sale from Hunte and they paid $1300.00 for the dog.
