This is probably quite true, Pat - however, should there ever be a ? about your dog(s) with the chips that cannot be read here in the US, HOW do you propose to prove their identity? AND, if your dog should be stolen or lost, none of the shelters have scanners that will even show there is a chip in there, so what benefit will you get? I figure the re-chip cost is well worth the 'insurance' - And I sent AKC the information for both chips - Joan
