I can not offer experience but I can offer some of what has been written by those with tons of experience. Lloyd C. Brackett known was quite successful with his German Shepherd line by utilizing this form of linebreeding only in reverse of what you are proposing..."let the sire of the sire be the grandsire of the dam on the dam's side." Which I believe, correct me if I'm wrong someone, he borrowed from the King Ranch theory of linebreeding of quarter horses. Here's a link to his writings, I hope it helps.
