Hi Susan (Shidler),
With all due respect, I don't think anyone who's read the latest Bulletin
should be accused of jumping to conclusions since we're talking about
material that has already been published (without detailed explanation!! -
in fact, without *any* explanation by the Club or its Ethics Committee).
Perhaps it's the Ethics Committee or other Club officials that jumped to
conclusions?
Since you said this matter was never mentioned at any Ethics Committee
meeting you attended, the fact that it was published in the Club Bulletin
anyway further suggests (to me) that something smells rotten.
In this regard, Susan Jackson raises a valid question ("Could it be the club
has been infiltrated by an Animal Rights Activist? This is how they work.
It would be interesting to find out who actually was responsible for adding
this information to your bulletin.")
Susan Cochran asks a good question too (my paraphrase: Who are the members
of the Ethics Committee? And is this info available online?) and I'm glad
she raised it. I've looked online and in the Bulletin and in the 2001
Yearbook (don't have 2002 yet) and can't find this information. (All I
found were Officers, Directors, Committee Chairs.) Why isn't that
information (listing of *all* Committee members) easily accessible?
I'm not a breeder but my Cavalier comes from a small private breeder (member
of the "old club") and I support the many breeders (regardless of club) on
this list. Seems to me the CKCSC has a lot of explaining to do -
notwithstanding the damage (ill-considered contributions to DDAL, and shaken
trust of club-members) that may have been caused already.
