Yes, you would have to shave an area for it to be effective. I'm not familiar with Torbutol, and the only reason that I am so familiar with Duragesic is that it is a human med which is also used on animals. It takes 24 hours for the patch to be fully effective, but it's usefulness lasts for 72 hours. The active ingredient is Fentanyl. With people, the docs used to prescribe something like Percoset for the first 24 hours to give good coverage before the Duragesic kicked in. Myra
