Glenn:
The dog in question will be 3 on August 31st so he is not a puppy.  But upon
checking with my vet and others this is not an isolated case.  Seems that
there has been quite a lot of bad reactions to the 6 in 1.  I think the
thing to remember here is that it is a poision and a dogs getting a 6 months
supply all at once is probably overloading their system.  By the sounds of a
few other cavalier owners I think you were lucky with your two.

The owner will not have to pay anything for vet fees but how this will
affect the longevity of the dogs life no one knows yet.

At least sending this to several lists will make people be more aware of
what could happen and then they can in turn make their own decisions about
their pets.  I for one would not do it.
