Hello, Alida,
"TDI" stands for "Therapy Dogs International" and you can find
information on them at http://www.tdi-dog.org/whatistdi.htm Blythe, my
five year old Cavalier and I had been doing therapy work at a nursing
home with end stage patients for the last year; we've had to take a
sabbatical from it while we determine if she has a severe allergy as she
has gotten almost obsessive/compulsive about barbering herself. We do
hope to return to it soon, or to certify another dog.
I did take the home study course that Delta puts out and wanted to
certify with Delta as well as TDI; here in New England it is very
difficult to find Delta evaluators as it is mostly a west coast based
program. One can do this through an obedience instructor, but setting
up the evaluation takes time and effort. I settled on TDI being
sufficient certification with the addition of Delta materials to add to
my information bank.
BIG congratulations to Diane on having three certified!!! WELL DONE to
you and Abbey Rose!. I am very interested in hearing all about this new
program and its mission. I'm sure that there are others who find this
work very interesting, so please keep us informed and let us know how
you came up with this idea and what sorts of AAT you will be doing!
Best,
Suze
