It is not generous (although thank you) but I feel our hobby gives us so
much and when we place the retired ones, or the ones we feel aren't
competitive, we are potentially taking away a home for a stray, thus the
donation, rather a 'conscience' fee or penance. And we can't afford dogs,
every spare penny goes for the related expenses. You would be horrified to
see the outlay on our tax bill every year. This is the reason we have The
Royal Spaniels!!! We can't afford it in reality (ask our tax person) but we
scrimp on other things. The bitch in whelp that went to England to our good
friend there was a gift (and look at what he spend in airfare and quarentine
fees!) but the rewards? Great...we are so pleased at the success of the
puppies that we smile (as we eat tuna helper!). To each his own. Another
perk is that the animal activists can't touch us as we don't sell. Again, we
all do things that work for us and our conscience.
