"Since I deeply believe that a raw diet is very much more beneficial I do
insist on continuing to feed raw." ... "I believe if you make it easy for
them to follow they won't have any problems with it."

I too firmly believe that a raw/ diet is more beneficial and I can assure
you that the people I speak to know my opinion (huge understatement) :).
IMO, insistance is not the way to go. I know all the pressures that work
against a person who is just getting started into this regime. I can only
do my best to show them what I feed, why I feed this way and how to feed
this way and hope that it continues. As I said before, I provide menus,
and I also provide other pertinent info. I don't have too many blind
followers who will just do as "I" say (VBG) when I'm not there staring over
their shoulder. If I haven't provided the education that makes this way of
feeding "totally logical" to them, then they mostly likely will gravitate
to feeding what a vet sells them, or a good salesman promotes at a show, or
what another fellow breeder advocates. I will likely hear that they now
feed raw 1/2 the time (may be a generous guestimate) because (fill in
reason here). Their reasons are their reasons. I don't want to add to
their guilt of not succeeding in this and have them not be totally truthful
with me for fear of disappointing me. Let's face it, once out the door,
the puppy is theirs and input from us then becomes optional. I don't know
how the court system views "dog matters" in the U.S., but I can assure you
that here in Canada, the courts would not be at all happy if I took up time
because the "contract" conditions between me and my puppy buyer were not
being met - most especially that the puppy person chose to feed what the
vet recommended. So, in this regard, it doesn't matter what you stipulate
in your contract re feeding methods. Non compliance with my recommended
feeding instructions does affect the effectiveness of my input when advice
is needed later on down the road and this they are told up front. BTW,
even though I have not talked about my recommended vaccination protocol
because the topic was on food, I also follow the recommendations of Dr.
Dodds and my holistic vet and provide accordingly.
