I've been off this list for quite some time, so the re-introduction thread
is a great idea for me. It's wonderful to read a little bio on list members,
so here's one from me, also.
I have a very small kennel, as many, if not most of you probably do. We live
in the western most part of Michigan, very near Lake Michigan. I share my
home and heart with Ken, my husband, two ShihTzu's Chan (9 yrs.) and Indy (5
yrs.), two tri-colour Cavaliers, Chadwick Escada (Escada), Angel's Pride
Graffiti Girl (Stella), my little German import from Tanja Engels, three
Blenheim girls, Roycroft Wish Upon a Star (Kerstin), Roycroft Secret Wish
(Tasia) and Sanickro Elegance (Jorja). Tasia won Best Puppy In Show at the
Nationals in Atlanta this year, which was a great thrill for us. It was her
first trip into the ring, so what a surprise.
Escada had her first litter in January and delivered three lovely puppies.
Sire to her litter was Sanickro Enchanter (Timmy). Kalidunn Best of My Love
(Brenn) is staying with us and both she and her litter brother Kalidunn
Drops of Jupiter (DJ) will be in Indianapolis this month, so we'll see how
they do. Last week we added a lovely little Black and Tan girl to our home,
also. She was bred by Chris Solomon and her name is Promontory Solitary
Locket (Locket). We think she's a dolly and we're very happy to have her
join our household. I love all the colors that Cavaliers come in, so Locket
was a dream come true for us.
I also foster rescued Cavaliers and it's a true passion of mine. There's
simply nothing like it; the changes both physically and emotionally that
take place once they are given love, room to run, other dogs to play and
interact with and arms to wrap around them is nothing short of miraculous.
I've met some of the very best people through rescue; the forever families
are beyond wonderful. There's just nothing I could say to fully express what
these rescued kids mean to me. So far Ken and I have fostered twelve
Cavaliers; each one as wonderful as the last. We have been blessed.
I am also a huge proponent of fully health testing all Cavaliers prior to
breeding. We have the science, we have the protocol to follow and for the
good of the breed, nothing less will do. I've had my heartaches when tests
came back with news I didn't want to hear, but thanks goodness I found out.
It's a white knuckle event each and every time, but there is no other choice
to be made. It's my hope that one day every breeder will fully health test
before each and every breeding. I believe that day is getting closer.
