Kris,
To the best of my knowledge and I too have two asymptomatic Cavaliers,
they should not be given enapril until they are symptomatic. One of my
Cavaliers who has an enlarged heart (the size of a Doberman) and a grade
4 murmur is currently taking Coreg which is a beta blocker prescribed by
my canine Cardiologist. It doesn't sound as if your Cavalier is a
candidate for any medication with just a grade 1/2 murmur and only
slightly enlarged heart.

Good luck and I am sure keeping her at a proper weight has really
helped.

Subject: [CKCS-L] MVD Question

Hi, I have a question to all you knowledgeable and responsible breeders.
I am a pet owner and have a lovely 5 and 1/2 yr. old blenheim female,
who was diagnosed (by the cardiologist)with a Grade l/2 murmur at the
York Show Health Clinic last Nov. Since she had no symptoms (and still
doesn't) and her weight was good, he recommended doing nothing at the
time. But for my own peace of mine, I had my vet run an exray of her
heart, which showed a 20% enlargement (left side). He said I didn't have
to do anything, yet, such as visiting our local cardiologist for a
workup. Just a six-month visit to listen to her heart for now. At the
time I thought that was all I needed to do. My sister's five yr. old
cavalier was recently put on medication for a newly diagnosed Grade 4/5
murmur. (She, too has no symptoms but she was seen by the cardiologist
and had further testing.) I've re-read the information I have on MVD,
and unless I misunderstood it, it states that the dog should be put on
medication (enepril?), even w/o symptoms. Can anyone further explain
this to me and advise me. I hope to go to either the Greensburg or York
show in order to see the cardiologist at that time. Thanks, Kris
