We have used x pens to fence off a small area in our family room that leads off to a small fenced deck through a doggie door. We keep their pens, dog beds, toys and balls in there for them, and are nearby but they aren't underfoot or chewing on the furniture. Here in Rainy Washington state, it works pretty well. Myra
