Excellent post! I was hoping to present a balanced view, but you did a much better job. There are Cavaliers that are exceptional...Peggy, Winston, Parker, Orbit, etc. There are Cavaliers that are steady and I spent three years running one of those too. I love him dearly and thank him for every run he gave me and every lesson he taught me. It is a wonderful feeling to walk to the line knowing that your little dog will give you his heart every time he runs. And there was never another dog that I would have rather taken home with me at the end of the day. About two years ago I bought a Sheltie in hopes of having a slightly more competitive agility dog that would give me more options. Snap is a fun little dog, but what I learned very quickly is that he is not a Cavalier and there is no comparison for me. So if I sound like a snob in appreciating a Cavalier that has exceptional performance ability, it is because I believe that Cavaliers can do it all. Like your post above said so well, every breed has its ace performance dogs, they are just harder to find in some breeds. Cavaliers are being very well represented in the agility ring these days and I truly believe that there will soon be a Cavalier win a National Championship. In the meantime the breed is gaining many admirers through its happy performance dogs. Now I will go back to lurking.
