Just a heads-up to anyone planning on flying with their dog soon. The
airlines are getting really picky and enforcing the "2 pieces of checked
baggage and one carry-on + purse/laptop" So, your soft sided carrier
would be your one piece of carry-on. I was reading the archives and came
across a long thread Re: flying.
Also, since the airlines limit the number of in-cabin dogs, I would
make your dog ticket reservation as soon as you have yours. That way, you
know you've got a spot. Some airlines have weight restrictions on in-cabin
pets, Northwestern or Continental limits it to 10#, I think. American and
Delta allow #20. American even allows up to 6 dogs on the flight. I'm
flying Delta in 2 weeks across the country, and hope it will be roomy
enough.
I have one of the Tutto carriers, I really like it, it fit well under
the American seats (will have to wait and see how it does with Delta). It
is very easy to roll, and can hold up to #100 on top of it (though I would
never put #100 of anything on top of my dog, ever)
