Susan, there were many of us telling as many as would listen what was really
happening.
The "dirty dozen" were loud and clear. As were many, many others of "us".

This is an old story and has become more than dull but I'd rather not have
history rewritten. New fanciers as well as those who don't know the story
should have the truth not some silly fairy tale.

At each and every meeting (informational) the membership was told there
would be a fight (with the AKC) and we (the club) would prevail. The
membership was told the letter from AKC was "lawyer talk" and didn't mean
anything. My husband, who is a lawyer said it's a lawyer talk alright and
it says "we're (AKC) coming, jump on the wagon or get out of the way".

The majority of Cavalier fanciers in the World (and the USA) wanted the
breed AKC registered. We, a rather small club, couldn't possibly keep the
Cavalier in the USA a private breed.

John Gammon and I could not get to the board meeting in which the wording
for the vote was decided. Had we been there things might have been somewhat
different...I don't think we could have actually forced a different outcome
because by that time we were pretty well distrusted by most of the club
membership. That distrust has lasted far longer than one would expect.

As I said, one person has admitted to me that there was a huge mistake
made...and a few have told me they "knew" the truth but didn't want to
believe it...they were hoping for a different outcome. That's human nature I
suppose. It would be so wonderful if something could be learned from that
past (still going on?) battle....
