I personally apologize if I have offended anyone with my comments. This issue is very fraught with emotion for breeders on both sides of the issue and I think that the pet fanciers can get caught in the crossfire. There really is difficulty in catching people up on an issue which has gone on this long; the assumption is that if you are endorsing something you thoroughly understand it. And with the "smattering" of genetics that I have, it would not be easy to teach or share my viewpoint. <G>
I think we need to backtrack and slowly explain some of the issues and difficulties in a calmer manner to those new to this situation. Some of this is genetics or science, but some of it is history and politics. Leanne and Laura and others have written very well on the health subject; issues about protocol vs. diversity and the attendent balance for which we must strive.
