Winnie, I'm not sure where you are getting your information but it not accurate for Oxi-clean multi purpose stain remover manufactured by Orange Glo. Sodium Carbonate is ONE of the primary ingredients, the first ingredient is Sodium Percarbonate. It does NOT warn to use Goggles, rubber gloves and protective clothing --- Here is th EXACT verbage given by the manufacturer under SAFTEY on their web site http://www.greatcleaners.com
Orange Glo International products are generally safe when used as recommended. However, there are some individuals who may be sensitive to components. First aid measures are described for likely exposures. As with any product, keep out of reach of children and pets, and consult your physician if irritation persists. OxiClean Multi-Purpose Stain Remover Keep sealed and dry until use. Avoid contact of OxiClean with strong acids, or bleaches. Normally OxiClean is diluted for use. Take care when mixing: point the mixing container away from face as oxygen is generated by product and may cause a pressure build up. Do not store diluted product in a closed container. Discard unused solution promptly flush down drain. Avoid breathing OxiClean powder, may cause irritation. Powder and solution are irritating to the skin. If skin irritation occurs, flush with water. If irritation persists, see physician. In case of: Contact with eyes - Flush with water for 15 minutes holding eyelids open. Promptly consult your eye doctor. Ingestion - Give milk or water to dilute, do not induce vomiting. Consult a physician. Lastly if special usage precautions were necessary (such as googles, rubber gloves and protective clothing) by law this HAS to be indicated on the product lable. All the best, Susan V.
