<<Has anyone had any experience with Whelpwise or anything similar? This is a monitoring belt that the bitch wears that lets you know when contractions start, etc. I don't know much about it and would appreciate any info that anyone has.>>
Elin I have used WhelpWise. They offer a fetal monitoring device which records data which is then transmitted over the telephone lines to a group of nurses who are available 24 7 and who can tell you if your bitch is in labor, help you anticipate trouble and who will stay in close touch with you throughout the birthing process if necessary. They are really, really nice people. They also offer a cardiac doppler device that allows you to measure the whelps' heartbeats to see if anybody's getting into trouble prior to being born. I have found this device to also be helpful in determining whether mum has given birth to all of her pups. I highly recommend this service. My description of what they offer is very general. You can learn more about them at their website, which is www.whelpwise.com.
