Hi Cindy,

I believe that it is common in Cavaliers for the platelets to be larger in
size and fewer in number. I know that with Cavaliers it is recommended that
the platelets be hand counted for this reason (the large platelets can
appear to be clumped and are,therefore, apt to be mistaken for being fewer
in number). If English Toy Saniels share this trait, it is quite possible
that your boy's platelets are not as low as your vet believes them to be. I
know there are some people on the list who are quite knowledgeable about
this phenomenon, hopefully they will see your query and post to you.
