Cindy, the platelets absolutely must be hand-counted.  If your ET's are
clumping, as many Cavaliers are, the results with not be correct if they are
machine counted.

I would ask your vet to hand count them.  If they are still this low, I
would ask for a referral to a specialist.  There have been several studies
done on this.  The University of Tennessee just completed one, but the
results have not been published yet.

Prednisone can bring the platelets up, and Imuran as a last result.  I would
not want to use either drug unless I had seen a specialist who understood
Cavaliers and platelet problems specific to them.
