I am really upset. Earlier this week my vet told me they had two new Cavalier puppies in their practice, and one was from a pet store. Last night, my neighbors told me there is a Japanese Chin in the pet store at one of our Malls. I just hate that they are carrying these two gentle breeds! (I assume this Cavalier puppy was bought locally, but don't know that.)
My vet said the Cavalier puppy is very unhealthy, and she doesn't know what will happen with him. My neighbors said the Chin did not look a thing like my Nick, that he had a very hard looking face. Nick always looks like he's smiling, and they said this Chin looked like he was frowning, similar to pictures I've seen of puppy mill Chin. I would love to see an organization set up with "big pockets" that could lobby against puppy mills and get them stopped at a national level. I believe that's the only way there's any hope of stopping this. It just makes me sick. I walk at this Mall several times a week, and I do go down the hall with the pet store, but stop a couple of stores before I get there and turn around. I can't stand to even walk by the store. My neighbors told me that almost all of the puppies at this pet store are small breeds. I assume that's true with most pet stores.
