Hi Phyllis Of course it would be best for your vet to do a complete physcial on your dogs. I reread your post twice for the symptoms the dogs are displaying and I am wondering if they could possibly be having some sort of seizure activity. My tri female would go into a trance -like state and would shake a bit and she would look frightened. I knew it was time to take her to the vet when she started to tilt to one side and her right hind leg would lift into the air. She is now taking phenobarbital twice a day and no longer has these symptoms. Unfortunately there is not a "test" the vet can do to diagnose seizure activity (short of a brain tumor showing up on film). The vet can only go by your description of the episodes or if the vet actually witnesses an episode. Good luck and please keep us posted.
