Just a "head's up" on something: The AKC is forming a committee to look
into banning any and all baiting in the conformation ring. I'm not sure if
this applies only to food or to all items used (fur mouses, squeakies, etc).
I have no problem with them banning the throwing of bait, but I hope they
don't ban using it otherwise. I have no problem with them banning those
squeakies (usually used by someone just behind you when you have just gotten
your dog perfectly posed and the judge is looking, of course...). If you
have thoughts or opinions on this, let your AKC rep know. I know our local
club is against this proposition.
