Retinal folds are "breeder's option" , but I have always thought that it is
best to breed away from them as it could be a quantitative defect. I have no
proof for this, but I suspect that continual breeding of retinal folds to
retinal folds could result in retinal dysplasia. Mainly I think this because
nothing is ever static when dealing with genetics, particularly polygenetics
where the bell curve comes into play.

There is also the possibility that it isn't quantitative, but is an
epistatic effect between two or more alleles.
