Andrew, I would suggest to also look into the "Miss-ratio-curve memory management" work from UIUC (http://opera.cs.uiuc.edu/Projects/PSALM/MRC.htm)? They've put in some efforts to port their work to 2.6.16 and are in the process of evaluating performance overhead and new policies for heavily multiprogrammed workloads (such as our on PlanetLab, which is where I come in). Their work will focus on integrating this directly with vserver, but I suppose someone from the CKRM community could easily port this once it is released. Marc Using Tomcat but need to do more?
