Eh...clamd is not running now, because of the permissions error, so I

Duh! Of course it's not or we wouldn't even be talking about this.
Nothing in /var/run...can I change clamd to log to syslog temporarily to
see what user it's running under?
I assume so.
But, another way to tell (I hope). In my clamd.conf (which I have in
/usr/local/etc/ but yours could be elsewhere is:
# Run as another user (clamd must be started by root for this option to
work)
# Default: don't drop privileges
User _amavisd
See if you have a User directive in your clamd.conf.
I do...it's set to "_clamav", but I tried chown'ing the log to that user and
it didn't help.
HOWEVER...I just tried chown'ing to "_clamav" again, and now, in system.log,
it seems to be working!
It seems like there's a time warp in my Mini...settings don't always take
effect immediately? But at least now I think everything is running...thanks
for your patience Larry!
