Great question -- and unfortunately we haven't worked out the specifics yet, so I don't have a great answer. Speaking generally though, the integration wouldn't be just with IPMP, but with IP interfaces and network data links as a whole. Basically, we'd like to have a networking FMA module and FMRIs for core networking objects (datalinks; IP interfaces) so that e.g. faulty NICs be reported (and healed when possible). Right now, technologies such as IPMP and 802.3ad handle network adapter faults internally, but they do so without knowledge of other faults on the system, and without informing the rest of the system (or the admin using fmadm(1M)) -- neither of which is ideal. Obviously, there will be many interesting issues to work out (e.g., how should FMA's diagnosis engine interact with in.mpathd?). -- meem
