Nour,

That error looks like ellis has got confused about whether or not a directory
number has been assigned. ellis creates a record before talking to homestead
and homer and should tidy up if the request fails - in this case, it looks like
that tidy-up has failed.

Do you see any errors in the ellis UI? (I suspect this is benign, except for
the leaked directory number.) Please let me know and I'll raise an issue (or
feel free to do so yourself at https://github.com/Metaswitch/ellis).

You should be able to tidy up ellis by

*         logging into it

* accessing its mysql database by typing "sudo mysql"

* switching to the ellis database by typing "use ellis ;"

* de-assigning the number by typing "update numbers set owner_id = NULL
where number = 'sip:6505550420@lannion' ;".

I hope that helps - please let me know how you get on.

Thanks,

Matt

Hello,

I subscribed to the mailing list with the email address

approval.
However, the error of ping is resolved, thank you for your support, I added
.local in the file, but now the new error when I am checking the logs is:

Nour,

Thanks for your email.

I'm not sure why your DNS configuration isn't working for
"10.0.x.x.lannion.local" - that does sound like a DNS configuration problem.

However, it should be fine to use hs.lannion.local - if you configure this in
/etc/clearwater/config, what happens? (Previously, I think you had
"hs.lannion" (no ".local") in your /etc/clearwater/config file.)

BTW, it might be worth you subscribing to the Clearwater mailing list
(http://lists.projectclearwater.org/listinfo/clearwater).

Thanks,

Matt

I also want to add more information,

The curl http://hs.lannion.local:8888/ping is OK,
But
If I change hs with its IP address
curl http://10.0.x.x.lannion.local:8888/ping the results is Couldn't resolve
host '10.0.x.x.lannion.local' and that's why I have this error in the log:

gaierror: [Errno -2] Name or service not known
2013-07-29 13:07:34,159 E homestead:62 2916:140618330056448] Failed to ping
Homestead at http://10.0.4.7.lannion.local:8888/ping. Have you configured your
HOMESTEAD_URL?

So is it a DNS configuration ?

Nour,

Thanks for your response.

You say that you can ping the host - presumably this is IMCP ping? If on your
ellis node you issue "curl http://hs.lannion:8888/ping";, does this succeed?

I notice that your /etc/clearwater/config file contains "hs.lannion.local"
rather than "hs.lannion". Is this deliberate?

Please let me know.

Thanks,

Matt

But what is strange for me, that I can ping it manually, the host is reachable

Subject: RE: Error - when creating a number

Nour,

It's good to hear from you.

The error indicates that ellis (the web UI component) can't communicate with
either homestead (the HSS) or homer (the XDMS) - specifically, it looks like
their DNS entries don't resolve ("Name or service not known").

Please can you check

*         the hs_hostname and xdms_hostname values in /etc/clearwater/config on
ellis - these are the hostnames (and ports) to which ellis will try to connect

* /var/log/ellis/ellis-*.log to find the full output when you try to
create a number - this should give the full URL that is failing to be
contacted, which will tell you whether we're looking at homestead or homer

* your DNS configuration - do these hostnames resolve (and if not,
which DNS provider are you using)?

Please let me know how you get on.

Thanks,

Matt
