I assign an arbitrary artist or album names for these kinds of compilations I'm sure I've created 30 or so albums titled artist name Asst with 4 songs or so, I've certainly added songs to greatest hits albums
If the files are just so good I feel like I need to include them with the rest of an artists work, by adding a copy to an existing album & modify the meta data accordingly The playlist of all tracks can be sorted different ways, pulling off big chunks to be used to add to another play list I occasionally use clementine to play music, Mostly I use it to organize files into playlists of 1000 or so songs to use to burn to sd cards [phones], in my car or with cheap mp3 players to drive a couple speakers as a boom box I can do the work of editing meta data faster with a file browser & EasyTAG for some tasks, the clementine editor is fine for the occasional fix There really isn't any easy solution, Clementine is built for the meta data to be a certain way Exaile player doesn't have any problem switching libraries, which makes it easy to check files before importing them Long term I add grouping tags, as permanent playlists or as rating I'll make a comment of skip or duplicate & set as one of the criteria[filter] of a smart playlist, I like the data on the files rather than in a configuration file that won't work on a different player or application For me smart playlists are the reason to use Clementine On Saturday, August 8, 2020 at 11:49:55 PM UTC-7, Stephen LoPiano wrote: > > I am trying to figure out how I might change something related to the way > recordings (mp3 or wav) appear in your library that is on the left hand > side of Clementine when the program is opened. > The way my library directory is structured: My Music\Recording Artist > Name\Title of Album\Numbered Song Titles. > For some reason all recordings that have various artists in a compilation > never appear under the recording artists name, I use various artists under > Recording Artist Name for these type of recordings when placing them in the > directory.
