Agreed.

Does the background colour* of non-editable text component change in Swing? If 
not, then non-blinking caret is the way to go so that it contrasts with the 
editable one.

* On Windows, such controls are usually displayed with darker background, like 
a static control which corresponds to `JLabel`. On macOS, the Info page 
displays data in non-editable text controls which match the background of the 
window.
