Oh, and I don't mean to sound like I'm running around with my head cut off. As I mentioned in the blog post and S. Corfield mentioned earlier, passing channels in as part of the :init-state map works fine. That said, since this thread has enlightened me as to the existence of get-shared, I suspect that that is a more natural home for channel with application-wide effects that need to be accessible from within components..
