I am trying to help the folks at http://giss.tv/ with a server that got hacked. They say:
> had a brief visit to BEK yesterday and restarted Trabant. > Didn't help much, It's still unaccessible with ssh. Problem is that I have > very little time to deal with it and it needs to be connected to a screen for > setting up with Ubuntu or similar. Does anyone know of an livecd with ssh > enabled that I can just pop in and restartand it works out of the box? It would be nice if they had used clonezilla to make a backup, but they didn't. so my request is not about that. but, I do know enough about clonezilla that it could help them. mianly as a live CD that has an ssh server. so boot the CD, log in from a 2nd box, do stuff. but I have a few problems trying to do test this in a VM: One of the things I will need is kexec, which comes in the ubuntu kexec-tools package. (this will let me boot the ubuntu alternate installer, with boot parameters, with a preseed file.) I can apt-get install it, but I need to add standard repo to sources.list, and when I run cz in a qemu vm, /etc/resolve.conf does not get filled in, which is one more thing I need to fix. if kexec was installed by default, much fewer steps. kexec is not really what clonezilla is for, but clonezilla is handy for doing system fix things, and kexec helps me with that, and it's only 120k :)1 Carl K ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Check out the new SourceForge.net Marketplace.
