As an alternative, would it be possible to extract all files from the zipped image files (files in the image folder are as in the pict uploaded here: http://www.imagebam.com/image/fa2dd659800375) and then copy them over to the /home partition. I don't need to copy the MBR or "hidden data between MBR and first partition" since this is a /home partition and the MBR is installed on the / (root) partition, hence just need the data files. Is there a way to extract all content from the image files, i.e. to extract all data from the compressed files < 'sdb1.ext4-ptcl-img.gz.aa' to 'sdb1.ext4-ptcl-img.gz.ad' > (as in the picture in the link above) and then copy it to /home partition (/dev/sdb1 in this case), using a Linux live CD (such as Parted Magic or similar live CD) ? If this is possible, then there would be no need to resize/expand the /home partition.
