Windows predates Linux (think Windows 1.0).  Unix predates Microsoft.  COBOL
predates C, but no one is hacking kernel code in that.  We could chase this
all the way back to the beginning of computer history, in which case ENIAC
had a head start on everybody, but I don't have one of those in my computer
room.  But then, Babbage's Difference Engine came before that, maybe I
should start building one of those (you know, a whitebox difference engine,
because I just hate buying name brand version with parts I can't replace.
"Dude, you're getting a difference engine.")  ;-)
